Discover Thainess on Air Asia Airbus A380

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Air Asia have teamed up in a co-branding partnership in support of the 2015 Discover Thainess campaign. Air Asia's newest Airbus A380 aircraft displays the royal barge Supannahong image and features beautifully decorated images of Thailand's promotional destinations on its interior.

Phuket's first underpass to open April 6

The underpass at the Darasamuth Intersection, in front of Central Festival Phuket shopping mall, is set to re-open to traffic with a grand opening ceremony on April 6. Minister of Transport Air Chief Marshall Prajin Janthong will be the guest of honor at the event.

Jet Ski Pro Tour comes to Phuket

The opening round of the G-Shock Pro Tour 2015, the premier jet-ski competition in Thailand, will be held off the Sarasin Bridge at the northern tip of Phuket on March 28-29. Joining the competition will be Chaowalit Kuajaroon, Pro Sport 800 Superstock 2004 world champion and the Thailand Pro-Am Runabout 0-1200 Open champion 2005.

Superkidz Triathlon

Thanyapura are hosting a fun triathlon for children aged 6-18 at their sport camp with events for three different age groups; Juniors (6-8 years), Intermediate (9-12) and Senior (13-18). Contestants can swim, bike and run at the world class facilities at the camp and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Khao Phra Thaew National Park.

Phuket Bike Week

The 21st anniversary of Phuket Bike Week will take place in two locations across the island this year. The event kicks off at Patong Beach from April 11-13 and moves to Phuket town continuing on April 17-19. Over 10,000 motorcycles and 50,000 visitors from 30 countries are expected to attend for this special anniversary event.

Songkran Festival

The Thai New Year is the biggest celebration in the Thai calendar. It marks the change of seasons from cool to hot and is a traditional time for families to get together. Today it is most famous for water splashing street parties. Everyone is encouraged to get involved in the festival so expect to get wet from water pistols and buckets even if you are just visiting.

There are 12 events throughout the week designed to entertain and raise funds for the fight against HIV infections in Phuket.
